EMPLOYMENT HISTORY CHECK

Validate a potential employee’s stated employment history through validation. This check involves querying dates of employment, positions held, details of any promotions, last salary, any bonuses, the name of the previous Line Manager, reason for leaving and eligibility for re-hire.

Turnaround time for such a check is 3 – 6 business days.

  • Typically the employment period able to be sought is up to 7 years.
  • The verification process is managed via telephone, fax, email or directly with the employer.
  • Employment history and verification will be taken out on two companies
  • A final report is returned to you as part of the investigation.

Why check a candidate’s employment history?

One’s past work experience may be a key factor in the selections process. Industry statistics show that approximately one-third of all resumes are falsified with many candidates embellishing aspects of their employment history in a bid to gain a position. Common embellishments are titles, responsibilities and remuneration. Additionally candidates may extend their time in positions to hide a job they may have been dismissed from or a period of unemployment.
Employment History Checks provide exact, accurate and unbiased information to employers.

What will be confirmed?

The information provided by the Candidate will be verified and additional information will be sought where not provided by the candidate, including:

  • Dates of employment
  • Positions held
  • Who the candidate reported to
  • Promotions or change of roles
  • Responsibilities

How to you go about doing the check?

There will be 5 valid attempts (including phone, email or fax requests) over 3 days to Human Resources or Payroll to verify the employment History. Employment history verifications are provided via phone, email or fax. As a last resort the Direct Manager will be contacted to verify the employment details.

What is reported as a variance?

Any negative findings or variance to the information provided by the Candidate

Additional points:

  • The candidates signed privacy consent form is always offered to be sent to the verifier.
  • The consent to release a report question to the client and/or candidate is always asked.
  • AIM Screening will not contact a current employer unless the Candidate gives express permission.
  • Employment history verifications must NEVER be taken from a peer.
